Would you like to propose a class or workshop?  If so, the class or workshop
can be no longer than one hour in length.  It should be geared to reach
people with a range of movement experience-people who have never had a dance
class to people who have had much dance training.  And we want it to be fun,
and we want to encourage participation within a substantial age range-from

AMERICA’S IRREPLACEABLE DANCE TREASURES
CALL FOR VOTES AND NOMINATIONS FOR THE NEXT 12 TREASURES
What artists, companies, or dance practices should be added to DHC’s list of “America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures”? Help us decide!

Since its launch in 2000, the list of America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures has engaged the public in discovering and exploring the richness and diversity of America's dance heritage. The Dance Treasures online exhibit honors choreographers, dancers, critics, composers, designers, companies, venues, styles, and movements from all regions and eras, with scholarly essays, visual materials, and research guides. This resource has been embraced by educators as a teaching tool and incorporated into syllabi across the country.

Thanks to this evidence of the value of the Treasures, Dance Heritage Coalition has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to enhance and augment the list and online resource. DHC will add new archival materials to the site and with input from users will add new features to make the site more interactive, navigable, and useful for educators.
In 2015, DHC will name 12 new Dance Treasures, bringing the total number to 125

Now, the DHC invites input from the dance community in selecting the 12 by nominating and voting for subjects worthy of inclusion. The DHC’s Board of Directors will ratify the voting and announce the selection on May 1, 2015.

Here’s how to participate:

First, look at the list of America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures.
Then vote for up to five (5) names (people, companies, or styles) that you think should be added to this list. You may choose five from the nominees suggested, or select three nominees and write in up to two (2) subjects of your own choosing. Any combination will be accepted as long as the total votes equal five.
